1 Piece 4 Ways: Black/White Houndstooth Skirt
SO excited to finally say HAPPY SPRING! It has taken too long to get here, but that makes it all the more sweeter. I have felt so uninspired because I’ve been wearing pretty much the same outfit: sweaters, boots, and my black puffer coat. My general mood can be described as “bleh”. I miss feeling the sun on my face and a breeze through my hair without feeling freezing and just wanting to crawl in bed. But we’ve made it, and I’m excited for what the change in the season brings!
One thing that won’t change is my love for neutrals. I’ve been trying to expand my wardrobe to experiment with more patterns, so when I saw this skirt I felt it was right up my alley. The silhouette is youthful and fresh, while the houndstooth pattern elevates it to more than just a casual skirt. Much like it’s gingham cousin, it’s versatile and can be styled in so many different ways. Below I’ve styled this skirt in 4 different outfits for different occasions. I think they’re pretty straightforward, so you can recreate them with what you have! I linked similar items as well if you’re interested. A similar skirt to the one I have can be found here.
Outfit 1: Modern Marie Antoinette
This light sweater gives me major French Revolution vibes. It’s dramatic and bright, playing well with the neutralness of the skirt. I paired it with tassel earrings that are the same shade of blue as my sweater to add a sleekness to the entire look. This is something I’d wear to a nice dinner with friends or family in my Versailles palace.
Outfit 2: Too Faced
Definitely a different take than my first outfit! This is something I’d wear to school or out running errands (that one might be a bit of a stretch), but certainly not inspired by French royalty. This shirt is super comfortable and gives off a casual vibe. The choker adds a change of texture. I’m OBSESSED with my earrings. They’re unlike anything I own, and totally out of my comfort zone. But that goes to show you that taking chances on something outside your box can be a good thing!
Outfit 3: Cold Shoulder
Off-the-shoulder tops are a staple in my wardrobe. I love the ruffle and floral detail on this top; it makes the entire ensemble extra feminine. I paired this with delicate floral earrings and a simple gold choker- they add the right amount of detail without being too much. This is something I’d wear shopping or for a day out with friends.
Outfit 4: Business in the Front
This is something I’d wear on date night or to a nice dinner/bar- with it ironed LOL! This top blouse walks on the line of professional and fun. I’ve worn this on job interviews with a white cami underneath to make it more appropriate, and going out to dinner/drinks. It works with the skirt well to give an overall classy vibe. I paired it with simple gold jewelry and rhinestone hoops to bring the attention to my collarbone/chest area without being too much.
